Portrait of Sir Joseph Paxton, illustrated for the group show 'Meet the Family' which was an eclectic mix of illustrated portraits of people with connections to Lismore Castle, both real and imaginary, curated by the IllustrationCupboard Gallery and members of Illustrators Ireland. The exhibition was part of the children's story festival 'Towers and Tales' in Lismore, Co. Waterford. And about the subject: he was a gardener and architect, best known for designing the crystal palace, taking inspiration for it's structure from giant lily leaves (Victoria amazonica), and also for cultivating the Cavendish banana.
